The surfaces of teeth, even when properly cleaned, can quickly become covered with a harmful film called plaque. This is composed of the deposit of organic substances, transmitted by saliva, on which bacterial flora grows and which is capable of producing polysaccharides. The presence of bacteria and polysaccharide substances facilitates the formation of caries and chronic affections of the gums and periodontal tissues. Gingivitis (characterised by reddening, swelling and bleeding of the gums) and periodontitis (characterised by gum retraction that leaves the dental collar, the part not covered by enamel, uncovered), are the most frequent cause of tooth decay. The presence of plaque and/or improper oral hygiene are also the cause of halitosis ('bad breath').

Chlorhexidine is a substance with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity that has also been used in mouthwashes for decades because it remains effective for a long time without causing tissue damage or delaying healing. Clinical studies indicate that, even in the absence of proper oral hygiene, chlorhexidine used consistently acts as a bactericide on the tooth surface, preventing plaque formation; the anti-plaque effect of chlorhexidine disappears within 24 hours of treatment.

Fluid mallow extract possesses an emollient activity that is expressed through a local anti-irritant action (opposing irritating agents), an adsorptive action (sequestering toxic substances), and a cooling action (forming a water layer in contact with mucous membranes). Consequently, thanks to the natural efficacy of mallow, the inflammatory process of the gums is counteracted, irritation of the oral cavity is effectively alleviated, and the aggravation and chronification of the inflammatory state is prevented. At the same time, the substances in mallow absorb secretions and neutralise toxic substances from bacterial breakdown.

How to use
After the usual oral hygiene with toothbrush and toothpaste, carefully rinse the oral cavity for at least one minute twice a day (preferably after breakfast in the morning and at night before going to bed), using 10-15 ml of mouthwash. It is advisable not to smoke or ingest colouring substances such as coffee, tea or wine for at least two hours after treatment.  To ensure better efficacy of the product, rinse thoroughly with water before using the mouthwash.
